Auto Accident - What You Need
North Carolina Auto Accident ATTORNEY
The law requires that the person or company responsible help take care of your North Carolina auto accident injuries and repairs. Many victims of car accidents try to handle their own cases, hoping that the insurance companies involved will settle as promptly and fairly as advertised. Unfortunately, not all insurance companies respond in that manner and you need a North Carolina auto accident attorney on your side. Insurance companies' obligations are to their stockholders and policyholders, not to people injured in car accidents. Insurance companies have enormous advantages: vast wealth, armies of sharp, experienced adjusters and attorneys, and dozens of legal reasons to try and reduce or deny you justice. At Crumley & Associates our obligation is to you.
Negotiating alone or waiting until the insurance company makes an offer can be frustrating. One wrong move or one mistake can cost you. Delaying or guessing about your case can result in the loss of valuable rights and a fair resolution.
Justice can be sought for medical bills, lost wages, car rentals and repairs, and for any pain and suffering you’ve endured. A North Carolina auto accident attorney from Crumley & Associates is highly experienced in the field of auto accident law. Our expert case managers and investigators will take care of getting the proof needed to recover your damages when you’ve been injured. We will use every available resource to help you.
Know Your Rights
If you’ve been in an accident and need your car repaired, you should know your rights.
North Carolina law states:
-
You are under no obligation to use the repair service recommended by the adjuster.
-
You may use the repair shop of your choice.
-
The amount determined by the insurer to be payable under the policy will be paid regardless of whether or not you use the recommended repair service.
In 1993, the state of North Carolina passed the law N.C.G.S. Section 58-3-180. This law forbids insurance companies from dictating where your car is repaired. Insurance companies in North Carolina are required by law to allow you to choose the repair shop or the source of the repair for your vehicle. Unfortunately, the adjusters for some insurance companies try to coerce you into having your car repaired at the shop they tell you to use. Sometimes they lead you to believe this is a requirement even if they don’t specifically state it is a requirement.
You decide where to have your car repaired, not the insurance company.
